About this role
Xometry is looking for a Staff Data Engineer to join our Data Platform team. This senior individual contributor role has broad technical scope and high organizational impact. You will own data architecture decisions and lead the design of scalable pipelines and platforms.
You will architect and build the data layer of Xometry's embedded DFM AI and IQE integration with partner Teamcenter and Designcenter. This includes owning bidirectional pipelines, joint data models for parts, BOMs, quotes, and manufacturability signals. You will also own the low-latency signal path delivering DFM and pricing feedback back into the designer's environment.
You will partner with engineering, product, analytics, and machine learning teams to ensure data infrastructure enables fast, high-quality decisions. You will set the engineering bar for building and operating data systems. The data plane you design makes the digital thread from ideation to delivery actually work.
Everything you build will matter. You will mentor other engineers and define best practices for data modeling, CI/CD, testing, and code quality. This role offers the chance to develop multi-quarter roadmaps and work on high-leverage strategic initiatives for a public company.
Requirements
- Deep expertise in designing and implementing enterprise-scale data architecture and engineering solutions that span multiple systems and domains.
- Proven ability to architect and optimize reliable batch and streaming data pipelines, data models, and platforms for high-volume, complex data.
- Experience with real-time and event-driven data flows, including low-latency signal paths that deliver feedback in the designer's environment.
- Strong understanding of data modeling, schema evolution, and contract testing, especially when data crosses a partner boundary.
- Knowledge of data governance, lineage, and audit posture required for public-marketplace partner integrations.
- Demonstrated ability to navigate complex, cross-domain technical challenges and deliver solutions that meet both business and technical objectives.
- Experience mentoring other engineers and setting engineering standards for data modeling, CI/CD, testing, and code quality.
Responsibilities
- Lead with technical depth – design and drive the implementation of enterprise-scale data architecture and engineering solutions that span multiple systems and domains.
- Own the partner integration data plane – architect and build the data layer of Xometry's embedded DFM AI + IQE integration with partner Teamcenter and Designcenter, including bidirectional pipelines, joint data models, and low-latency signal paths.
- Build for scale – architect and optimize reliable batch and streaming data pipelines, data models, and platforms that handle high-volume, complex data.
- Own the full lifecycle – take end-to-end accountability for data engineering work from acquisition and transformation through delivery, observability, and ongoing performance.
- Set the standard – define and enforce best practices for data modeling, CI/CD, testing, and code quality across the data engineering function, including contract-testing and schema-evolution discipline.
- Solve ambiguous problems – navigate complex, cross-domain technical challenges and deliver solutions that meet both business and technical objectives.
- Develop multi-quarter roadmaps – translate strategic priorities into concrete technical plans, working independently to determine methods and timelines.
- Mentor and elevate – guide other engineers through design reviews, code reviews, and technical mentorship, raising the overall capability of the team.
