About this role

We are seeking a Senior Data Engineer to own and evolve the backbone of our data platform. This hands-on builder sits at the intersection of data engineering, software architecture, and pragmatic problem solving, designing systems that ensure data is trustworthy, accessible, and ready to power everything from day-to-day operations to next-generation AI applications.

Your day-to-day includes architecting and maintaining data models, pipelines, and access layers. You ensure data quality and governance, monitor and optimize system performance, and drive efficiency through automation. You also flex across the stack, from backend data engineering to occasional frontend applications.

You serve as a technical leader, raising the bar on engineering fundamentals by reviewing code and setting best practices. The team is skilled, passionate, and collaborative, committed to Hopscotch's mission of transforming healthcare in rural America. You will help shape the long-term direction of our data ecosystem.

Requirements

Responsibilities

  • Architect, build, and maintain the data model, data pipelines, and data access layer in collaboration with the data platform team.
  • Ensure data quality and governance to make data trustworthy and usable for all stakeholders, from clinicians to operators.
  • Monitor and optimize data infrastructure, troubleshoot issues, improve performance, and drive efficiency through automation and process enhancements.
  • Lead with technical depth by reviewing code and setting engineering best practices across the team.
  • Design today’s infrastructure with tomorrow’s needs in mind, laying the foundation for advanced analytics and AI.
  • Contribute where business needs are highest, flexing across the stack from backend data engineering to occasional frontend applications.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including product managers, analytics, operations, and care delivery stakeholders to translate business needs into scalable data solutions.
