About this role

Jefferies is seeking a Senior Vice President to join the Information Security team as a Network Security Engineering Lead. This hands-on role requires deep technical expertise across network security, segmentation, automation, DevOps practices, and emerging AI/LLM-driven capabilities.

You will be accountable for researching, designing, engineering, implementing, and supporting network security across the firm. Day-to-day work involves integrating automation and LLMs into the network security stack, managing next-generation firewalls, and driving micro-segmentation strategies.

You will collaborate closely with infrastructure, application, and security teams to implement existing and future network security tools. The role offers the opportunity to work with subject matter experts across security, infrastructure, network, development, and business teams in a fast-moving financial markets environment.

This position is ideal for someone comfortable working with minimal supervision as part of a team that consistently delivers ground-breaking and innovative solutions. You will have the chance to influence security architecture decisions while protecting the firm's assets.

Requirements

  • 15+ years of technical experience in networking and network security.
  • Experience with automation, Python, and LLMs.
  • Working knowledge of building and implementing a network automation design that automates networking tasks across multiple vendors and platforms.
  • Significant experience with computer networks, firewalls (Palo Alto including GlobalProtect), security policies, micro-segmentation (Illumio), WAF (Cloudflare or equivalent), and NAC (Cisco ISE or equivalent).
  • Proficient with network troubleshooting tools such as sniffer, syslog, NetFlow, TCPDUMP, and Wireshark.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of intrusion detection, incident response, and data encryption.
  • Extremely eager to learn new technologies and able to execute with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

  • Utilize LLM/AI and automation to build processes that improve, audit, and secure the Jefferies environment from a network security and segmentation perspective.
  • Work with the Network Security Engineering team on the architecture, deployment, and management of Jefferies' global network segmentation deployment and strategy.
  • Deploy and implement network security through Palo Alto Firewalls and the Illumio product for applications and endpoints.
  • Analyze and troubleshoot escalated issues for Palo Alto Firewalls, GlobalProtect VPN, Cloudflare WAF, Network Detection and Response, Network Access Control, ISE, Web-Browser Isolation, Illumio, and related platforms.
  • Work closely with Network Engineering and Operations teams, as well as Security Engineering and Operations teams, to support and integrate security at every level into the network.
  • Align network security policies to the needs and expectations of Infrastructure and Application teams and the company as a whole.
  • Drive automation and self-service models while influencing security architecture decisions.
