About this role

We are seeking a highly motivated Data Engineering Intern to join our Data Engineering group within our Artificial Intelligence team. The ideal candidate is passionate about data engineering, analytics, data exploration and leveraging AI. They have a strong desire to learn and develop their skills.

As a Data Engineering Intern, you will work with experienced Data Engineers in developing and deploying data pipelines in the cloud. Build data pipelines leveraging Python, Spark and SQL in a Databricks platform. Assist with data and analytics PoCs plus ad-hoc analysis of sources like Jira project data.

Help document data quality checks, access controls and data governance protocols. Collaborate on a large team with other data science practitioners on innovative projects. Contribute to processes making data assets more discoverable.

Gain conceptual understanding of fundamental machine learning concepts from degree or self-learning. This role supports skill development in cloud data engineering and AI. Responsibilities evolve with Cotiviti’s internship needs.

Requirements

Currently in your junior or senior year studying toward a Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Math, Economics, or Engineering
Preferred: Pursuing Masters or PhD degree in Data Science, Analytics, Computer Science, Statistics, Math
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Interested in collaborating on a large team with other data science practitioners on innovative projects
Conceptual understanding of fundamental machine learning concepts either from degree or self-learning

Responsibilities

Build data pipelines in the cloud leveraging Python, Spark and SQL in a Databricks platform
Assist with building data and analytics PoCs in Databricks
Conduct ad-hoc data analysis of various data sources including project management data from Jira
Document data quality checks, access controls and data governance protocols
Develop processes for documentation of data assets to make them more discoverable
Apply conceptual understanding of fundamental machine learning concepts
