About this role

As a DevOps Engineer at Zoom, you will work in a fast-paced, high-impact environment building and maintaining resilient systems that power Zoom's UCaaS and CCaaS services. Your focus will be on automation, continuous integration and deployment, observability, and cloud-native operations. You will collaborate closely with Developers, Infrastructure Engineers, and Product teams to ensure seamless functionality.

Your daily work involves deploying and managing services across multi-cloud environments including AWS and OCI. You will collaborate with Developers, Infrastructure Engineers, and Product teams to ensure continuous availability and performance. You will handle multiple services like Zoom Phone, Zoom Contact Center, Zoom Virtual Agent, and WorkForce Management.

You will be part of the team responsible for Zoom Phone, Zoom Contact Center, Zoom Virtual Agent, and WorkForce Management. This role emphasizes building automation to reduce manual effort and being the on-call owner for assigned services. You will also drive the seamless functionality and availability that defines Zoom's user experience.

Using a tech stack including Kubernetes, Docker, AWS, OCI, Git, CI/CD, Terraform, Redis, Python, ELK, Grafana, Prometheus, you will develop new automation and manage production deployments. You will proactively monitor systems for reliability and performance. You will implement infrastructure as code and ensure repeatability across environments.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience in DevOps, automating build pipelines, or SRE roles.
  • Experience in designing and implementing high availability cloud environments (AWS, OCI) including VPC, NLB, Security groups.
  • Hands-on experience with Kubernetes and Docker for managing production deployments and autoscaling of distributed systems.
  • Proficiency in Infrastructure as Code using Terraform for automation and repeatability.
  • Experience with observability tools for monitoring, logging, and alerting (e.g., Grafana, Prometheus, ELK).
  • Strong scripting and coding skills in Python, Bash, and Linux.
  • Awareness of production security management including IAM, Secrets/TLS/SSL, DDoS handling.
  • Experience working in a 24x7 or 12x7 on-call rotation for DevOps/SRE roles.

Responsibilities

  • Manage production deployments and autoscaling/backup of Kubernetes-based and Dockerized workloads for distributed, large-scale systems.
  • Implement and manage infrastructure using Terraform for Infrastructure as Code to ensure automation and repeatability.
  • Create and maintain automation using available frameworks to reduce manual toil and improve operational efficiency.
  • Write and maintain scripts and code primarily in Python, Bash for automation, deployment, and monitoring tasks.
  • Design and implement high availability cloud components including VPC, NLB, Security groups on AWS and OCI.
  • Use and administer observability tools for monitoring, logging, and alerting to ensure production cluster health and performance.
  • Participate in on-call shifts and incident management, working after hours/weekends for application releases and deployments.
  • Proactively monitor systems for reliability and performance.
