About this role

We seek a senior cybersecurity leader to connect architecture, engineering, and operations. The goal is to secure cloud, AI, OT, network, and endpoint platforms globally. This role supports someone who leads through complexity and builds secure foundations for innovation at AstraZeneca.

This position carries high-impact responsibilities tied to AstraZeneca’s 2030 ambitions. You will shape strategy for security platforms that enable digital transformation and turn policy into measurable controls. Reporting to the Executive Director for Cybersecurity Architecture, Engineering, & Operations, you will guide a globally distributed team.

Day-to-day work includes governing roadmaps for platforms such as Wiz, Microsoft Defender, and Zero Trust solutions. You will deliver the New SIEM program, operationalise sovereign AI infrastructure, and embed Trust by Design patterns. Activities align to NIST CSF while advancing platform maturity from Tier 2 to Tier 3.

The role offers scope to build leadership capabilities across Americas, EMEA, and APAC regions. You will develop future-critical skills in AI, Zero Trust, and cloud-native security while maintaining strategic vendor partnerships and cross-functional alignment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, or comparable specialisation.
  • 15+ years of significant experience in modern software development and security engineering.

Responsibilities

  • Define and implement a multi-year strategy for security infrastructure aligned to enterprise objectives.
  • Govern the roadmap and lifecycle of core security platforms across cloud, network, OT, and endpoint domains.
  • Chair the Cyber Design/Delivery Review Board to ensure cybersecurity alignment across transformation programs.
  • Lead delivery of the Q3 2026 New SIEM program and drive the Security Copilot initiative.
  • Operationalise Polaris/Sferical AI sovereign datacenter targeting go-live in May 2026.
  • Provide authoritative solution design consultations and redesign the consultation model to be risk-based and automated.
  • Build, mentor, and inspire a high-performing, globally distributed engineering organization.
  • Develop and manage budgets including capital plans for the Security Platform Engineering & Operations portfolio.
