Burnaby, CA · Full-time · C$128,400 – C$173,600

About this role

Clio is the global leader in legal AI technology, empowering legal professionals to work smarter and faster. As a Senior Product Designer on the Product Led Growth team, you will own the design of the critical onboarding and activation experience during a customer's first 120 days.

You will shape onboarding experiences, activation flows, in-product guidance, and internal tooling that move new customers from signed contract to sustained usage. Your focus is ensuring customers use what they have, get value, and build habits that make Clio indispensable.

Design is one of the three pillars of Clio's Research and Development organization alongside Product Management and Engineering. You will directly engage in researching user behaviors and needs, acting as a user experience champion to transform how lawyers provide services.

On the PLG team, your work has a direct, measurable connection to customer success. You will work at the intersection of acquisition, activation, and retention, designing experiences that determine if a customer becomes a power user or quietly churns.

Requirements

  • Proven experience designing onboarding, activation, and retention flows for software products.
  • Strong portfolio demonstrating user-centered design process and measurable impact on customer success.
  • Proficiency in design and prototyping tools such as Figma or similar.
  • Experience conducting user research to understand behaviors, pain points, and value moments.
  • Ability to map customer journeys and identify opportunities for in-product guidance.
  • Collaborative mindset working cross-functionally with product management and engineering teams.
  • Understanding of product-led growth principles and metrics.

Responsibilities

  • Own the end-to-end design of the onboarding and activation experience from day one through the first 120 days across all Clio products a customer has access to.
  • Map the customer journey: initial setup, first value moment, team adoption, habit formation, and natural discovery of additional products within an existing subscription.
  • Design onboarding paths that reflect how different firm types and roles actually get value from Clio, moving away from a single default flow.
  • Identify where customers succeed and where they fall off, and use that understanding to drive design decisions.
  • Design and ship in-product experiences such as checklists, empty states, contextual tooltips, progress indicators, and in-app guidance.
  • Build the surfaces that help customers discover the Clio products they already have access to at the right moment in their journey.
  • Concept, prototype, and present solutions that solve both business and user problems and deliver measurable outcomes.

Benefits

  • Flexible hybrid work environment with opportunity to work remotely across Canada and the US.
  • Opportunity to make a direct, measurable impact on customer success and product growth.
  • Be part of the global leader in legal AI technology, transforming the legal experience for all.
  • Collaborative design team integrated with product management and engineering in a three-pillar R&D organization.
